Prolonged Period

Hello , Am 36 yrs old and i would like to know if prolonged period can cause high blood sugar for someone who is not diabetic. I have had a prolonged period for close to a month now, never taken contraceptives, never ever been pregnant. last week my blood sugar shot up to 12. so i was wondering if there is a relationship between the two (blood sugar and prolonged menses. please help. Thanks
