Stysels of te wel, koolhidrate maak nie eintlik vet nie, dis gewoonlik al die vetterige byvoegings (botter, margarien, room, mayonnaise, ens) wat mense by koolhidrate voeg wat die energie-inname daarvan opstoot. Jy kan dus gerus jou 5 porsies stysel per dag inneem, wees net versigtig om nie allerhande vette daarby te voeg nie. Koolhidrate soos stysel bevat 16 kJ per gram, terwyl vette 39 kJ per gram tot die dieet bydra - dit is 'n groot verskil. Ek stem saam dat dames waarskynlik beter sal doen as hulle daagliks 5 porsies stysel inneem en mans 7 -dit is nou weer om die totale energie-inhoud van die dieet laag te hou.
