Dear Penny

I would recommend a careful pre-conceptual evaluation done by a gynaecologist to establish if there are abnormalities in your hormone system, your fallopian tubes, pap smear, etc. Should all these parameters be normal and your partner’s sperm should be evaluated. Finally folic acid supplementation would be recommended pre-conceptually and should there be any family history of genetic abnormalities, this should be evaluated as well. Should all factors be normal then simple regular intercourse possibly with ovulation monitoring may be all that is necessary.

Taking vitamins is a good start, as well as eating healthily and having a healthy body weight.
