Piriformis

Following (difficult) diagnosis of priformis syndrome, my performis muscle was severed (at joint). Now experience recurring " trigger points"  in left buttocks, with resulting sciatica-like symptoms. Pain subsides temporarily when I sit on a ball (tennis or baseball). Have had little lasting relief from any treatment (various options already tested).

What is would be the best way to " self-treat"  trigger points, and do you have any alternative advice?

Much obliged.
