Pigmentation

I have suddenly noticed brown spots on my skin . The dermatologist says it is not cancer. He did use gas to remove a few, but my question is why do they occur and what can i do to prevent them from re-appearing.
Is there any other methods to remove them as it is quite costly to visit a dematologist that often?

Hallo Tersia
It is often caused by sun damage ( called sunspots or solar keratosis). Most effective treatment is freezing it or using something like Effudix. Prevention is using a good sun screen
