pap smear necessity

25 years ago when I had a hysterectomy (the way my gynaecologist performed an abortion) I was told that I wouldn''t need to have pap smears ever again. Previous to the hysterectomy I had also had an ectopic pregnancy and one ovary removed. Anyway now I am 60, widowed, sexually retired, and suddenly a young doctor I met says you have to have pap smears forever. Is this true?

If you have had a full hysterectomy you have no cervix and therefore do not need pap smears.
