Pap Smear

Dear Doctor,

When should women start going for cervical cancer screenings or pap smears? Age? Before they' ve ever had sex, or after? what is best?

thanks
Sandy

HI Sandy
You only have to go for a pap smear if you are sexually active - and for older women who still has their uterus. Your GP can do a papsmear, some women prefer to see a gyne but it is much more expensive. You need to go once a year.
