pain in shoulder

I was woken by an excruciating pain in my left shoulder blade.
The pain worsened and was felt up the left side of my neck.
Also, the slightest movement causes terrible pain.

I have taken an anti inflammotory but can can feel the pain creeping back.

Please advise as to whom I should I see.

dearAnon,

the type of pain you are describing can be due to one of the following causes:

- a nerve entrapment in your neck - the most likely
- a calcific deposit in your shoulder

consult with a specialist to at least get an X-ray and diagnosis to have it properly treated
