ovarian cyst and pregnancy

hi doc!!

jst found out that i have 5cm ovarian cyst and im 6 weeks preggies,bt the gyny that ive gone to says cysts are not harmfull to the baby,he also said that it shouldnt grow bigger because it could burst, and again it cant be operated because it could take away the pregnancy and i should avoid sex.

what cn i do to make it go away or atleast make it smaller,im so hurt because ive been waitin for this pregnancy for two years.

should i be worried abt it?

Dear Tso!

First of all I don’t think you should be worried as cysts can occur in a pregnancy state. These cysts are usually asymptomatic or may occasionally cause some pain. However they shouldn’t complicate your pregnancy and shouldn’t have an effect on the baby at all. There is nothing that you need to do to go away or make it smaller. Most of these cysts will naturally get smaller or disappear with time.
