Brendan, I am so glad there are men out there that confirm the theory that " sexy"  is a lot of things. I have met a lot of men in my life that only go for women with that model body and looks ! Some of these men are no oil paitings either, yet they expect a woman to be top notch at all times. My grandmother always used to tell me afte 53 years of marriage, to rather go for someone who you can talk to, to have a decent conversation with, because when you are 87 and your boobs sag (Don''t care who you are, that WILL happen) and a man sags too :P there will only be one thing left and that will be good conversation.
There is so much pressure put on women nowadays to be a good wife, mother, daughter, business woman and to top it all off men who have unrealistic views of what sexy really is :)
Good Post.

And to get back to the topic, beauty as portrayed by Disney, glossy magazines etc is just another con. The Kardashians dont even look like that. Its all just smoke and mirrors. I like pretty woman, but as the cliche'' goes, a lot of these amazingly attractive woman are just " dumb blonds" . Real beauty goes much deeper than a sexy a$$. (no pun intended lol).

You must be referring to the great 911 con, the JFK con, the Osama Bin Laden con, the Afganistan con, The Saddam con and the greatest con of them all, the state of ever expanding Isreal con. Never before has so many self rightious flag waving crazed humans done so much damage to other countries and people. The frightning thing is thatv90% of the western world suck it all up while they watch CNN and fill their faces with trashy MacDonalds burgers. As you may have noticed I don''t have a lot of time for them. People who believe in the ghost of Osama Bin Laden and the official version of events must have been born with rocks in their heads!

DH I was thinking of asking the forum if there are any " conspiracy theorists"  on here. Well just to give you a clue, I buy a lot of what Alex Jones is saying -911, Bilderberg group etc.

Big business is simply about making money, politics is about power and religion is about control. Humanity are actually a really doff lot. We believe that we have freedom, freedom to do what, freedom to choose who we serve and who we pay our money to. Think about it, wecare bred to work, to serve, to obey and to kowtow to the man. At the end of the day the man is the one who pulls the money strings. Those ones who sit above goverments who are able to control the flow of money, the ones who choose who gets the loans and who don''t. 97% of world wealth is vested in 3% of the population. We are like rats scurrying about the drains thinking that we choose our lives. Don''t kid yourself, the man pulls the strings, we are simply puppets that react to our circumstance. Petol goes up, interest rates go up, new products are produced, hype, marketing, consumption, those are the ways of our lives. The best and the wort thing that ever happened to us is mass high speed communications. We are instantly informed of the utterance of a 20 year of model, we all react, in unison to add our view to an absolutely absurd outcry. We are instantly aware of the latest fad, marketing is shoved down our throats and tainted political views are beamed at us 24/7. We buy into all this crap, we believe that a twit like Malema is significant, because the media says he is, we believe that we just have to have the latest BMW and Iphone because marketing made our peers believe that we have to have it. Our generation are the fools who create simply to consume, like a snake eating its own tail, but watch, the world economy is unable to sustain it. The 3% who own the 97% of the wealth are going to become the 1% who own 99% of the wealth. I had the oppertunity to speak with a very wealthy stockbroker / economist over the past couple of daye, us, the little people, don''t have the faintest idea about how money, goverments and politics are really controlled and by whom. The statement ''Money makes the world go round'' is more true than you''d ever imagine.

PS before I get shot down for saying " cynical about religion"  and " Proverbs"  in the same breath, let me add that the Bible is not an Organisation. A topic for another day, I know, but you get the point. And that statement about about wanting what you cant have is just a phrase. It cant be understood just by syntax alone. DH probably put one of its meanings more succinctly. Albeit inadvertantly...lol!

DH touched on what I think is the most important thing here. He said " they subconsciously aspire to."  That''s the rub. That is the whole deal.
The subconcious mind does not choose. Whatever information it receives it validates as absolute truth and these " truths"  become our values and principles.
So using Disney as a babysitter is moulding that young mind and instilling values and principles albeit inadvertantly.
I am cynical about the motives of Big Business, Politics, and Religion and I believe that they have very dark agenda, and that the public are being hoodwinked into believing that stuff like Disney is entertainment. It''s nothing less than brainwashing.
True beauty that young woman should be aspiring to is described in an ancient scroll, written by someone who is purported to be the wisest man who ever lived, Soloman, in Proverbs 31.

It is quite simple - girls wanting to look like Barbie is aspirational. Aspirational means Aspire To. Now, most products have some aspirational value added to it by marketing so as to position the product in the market. A Volvo V40 station wagon is portrayed as THE stationwagon to have. Most people can''t aford it but do aspire to drive it one day (of course if you are the aspirational yuppie stationwagon type). Men buy Mens Health magazine because they subconsciously aspire to look like that guy on the front page even though they don''t realize it themselves. The thing with aspirational purchases is that we see ourselves looking like that person. Now you might say why don''t they make barbie look like the average girl, simply nobody aspires to look like the average girl. Girls imagine themselves as being princesses in beautiful dresses, they don''t see themselves as slightly overweight average girls with messy hair and dirty tekkies. There is nothing wrong with aspirational products provided that the buyer understands the difference between make believe and reality. If you believe that Barbie dolls make girls want to be thin then why doesn''t a doll of Fiona in Troll form from Shrek want girl to become like trolls. We must be very careful not to be selective in our siting of examples.

Why is it called misinforation, some women actually look like Barbie and some men think that that is the perfect figure. I personally like the look, I don''t think a worn out overweight girl next door is striking nor anything to aspire to. Nobody can say that Jessica Leandr Dos Santos is not a really pretty girl (forget about all the politics and rubbish for a moment)

You must also remember that it is your choice, you can buy into popular media values or you can be true to your own values. The reason people buy into media values is because they simply don''t have any of their own values based on their own opinions, they simply grab on to the opinions of others and go with the flow (this is called fasion0

im sorry for the late reply im just so touched with ur questions i just had to have a say even if its late

1.we are so influenced by the media in a very strong way every thing that has value or considered beautiful in tv has to be thin thin actresses thin models thin everything ppl think thin is beauty due to the media wich is not true.

2.because they think they are not miss world or dont have features like kardashians they are not good enough they are not accepting themselves and their flaws at all only those lucky few who gets that love and adoration at home at least know that in their place they are beatiful but the media is not making it easy for anyone to know they are beautiful at all.

its crazy how we take what we see out there with our celebrities and just make it perfect

They need to start with the whole disney princess thing. We do not live in a Fairy tale - why are the first role models physically indicative of less than 2% of the whole female population?

And with marketing, men bought into it too - why does everyone see barbie lookalikes as the perfect figure, the perfect girlfriend, the person most women will never be.

Why does the film and fashion industry perpetuate this misinformation?

Just a few thoughts off the top of my head

The characteristics of beauty is so skewed in our modern media-ruled world, that an honest answer, and a truthful answer won''t be forthcoming.
