OPERATION ON CAROTID

Hi Doc,
My stepdad is going for an operation as his artery leading to his brain has thinned by 65%, and he' s apparently in huge risk of having a stroke. All I can glean is that they stop blood flow to the brain during the operation. Would you be able to provide further details regarding this operation?

They are probably going to do a carotid endarterectomy

They often relay the blood with a shunt to the brain while they are working on the artery.
