Open kidney biopsy

I am going for an open kidney biopsy and need advice on the following:
1. How big will the cut be?
2. How painful is it and for how long will I experience the pain?
3. What is the recovery process?

Do you have a web address where I can get more info

Thank you
Tracy

1. the size of the cut depends on the doctor but should not be much larger than 5 cm - even less depending on what he plans to do
2. I think it is quite sore for the first few days as they need to go through the muscle and into the abdominal area.
3. Recovery will be over a few weeks depending on what they did at the operation.
