Old Jaw Injury

When plates are put into a serverly broken jaw to put it togehter again - does the plates they put in have to be removed after recovery, if yes what complications can come from keeping then in place ten years after trauma?

Usually the plates stay in and there should be no complications. The doctor that put them in would know best how bad the damage was and whether they should be removed and when. If they have already been there for 10 years and caused no side-effects they can probably be left, but please ask the surgeon who put them in about this.
