Hallo Kathy
Swollen ankles and feet can be caused by heart failure, kidney failure, low protein levels in the blood, lymph drainage problems or previous deep vein thrombosis. It may or may not be related to the headaches, which could be migraine or chronic muscle spasm (tension-) headaches. Have they done blood tests to check her kidney functions, liverfunctions, serum protein, blood sugar, x/ray of the chest and ECG? Unfortunately I don't know many doctors in Durban but maybe you should get a second opinion from another physician. Look on Medpages.co.za for one near you. (use Free search)
