Hallo Anon
It is not life threatening. Occipital (back of the head) neuralgia ( pain of the nerves) is caused by irritation of the nerves supplying the head. See http://www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/occipitalneuralgia/occipitalneuralgia.htm
