NUMBNESS

I am woken up numerous times during the night with a numb index finger and thumb, especially on my left hand. I had carpel tunnel op on both hands back in 2003 - could this be a recurrence or is it something else I should be concerned about? Some nights I do get numbness in the other hand, but not as much as the left finger and thumb.
