Nipple problem

I am in my early 40''s. Not pregnant or breastfeeding. Today my right nipple started itching. When I took a shower this evening I felt a stinging pain when washing the nipple area. After further examining I saw that there was a tear/cut on the side of the nipple. A small amount of watery fluid is coming out. What''s wrong? Do I need to see a doctor?

Hallo Sharona
It may be safer to let your doctor have a look - it may be excema but a rare kind of breast cancer can also cause these symptoms (Paget's disease)http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/factsheet/sites-types/paget-breast
