Breast health expert
you do not metion how old you are. A lump in the breast should always be diagnosed completely. An FNA (=fynnaalaspirasie), which apparently you had, has an accuracy of about 85 - 95%, depending who does it and who looks at it. The approach of your doctor, to do a needle core biopsy (diknaaldbiopsie) is right; in a good breast centre in concordance with European practice the core biopsy will be done under ultrasound guidance to demonstrate the needle in the lesion; 4 - 6 cores are taken. Under these conditions the accuracy is about 98% or more.
