New addition

We have just got a new dog. She is about a year and a half and a cross sausage dog. She has an amazing personality the only thing is that she piddles every time she is excited or nervous. She also did it with her pervious owner.

What I would like to know is, is there any thing we can do to help her.

Thanks

Dear TC

Ignore her for the first 10 minutes after you get home. Give her quality attention only after the ten minutes once she is nice and calm.

Quite a common problem, no easy solution. Best is to avoid stressful situations - also, when you come home get into the habit of ignoring the dog for the first 10 mins or so - then greet her gently. That should in time help defuse what is probably the greatest cause of excitement for her. Also, it helps let you pick the spot where you greet her, so as to minimise the effects if she does widdle.
