Neutered male suddenly weeing in the hou

Hi there,

Please help me. We have 4 dogs, 2 spayed bitches and 2 neutered males. All of them have come from rescue societies or have been dogs someone else no longer wants.

Sgt. Stoogy our basset / sausage cross has taken to weeing in the house and we are at our wits end as to how to break this habit. We very rarely catch him in the act so it' s no use reprimanding or punishing him after the fact. Tthe floors are all tiled and are washed with detergent and white vinegar 3 times a week and we use a commercial spray meant to discourage him from fouling in the house and we frequently walk with him in the garen and praise him lavishly when he wees in the garden. We found that a citronella spray worked well for a while but is not so effective anymore.

Nothing has changed in the house, no new animals have arrived (our newest arrival was 15 months ago and he and Stoogy are the best of friends).

Even though all the dogs sleep in our bedroom in their beds they all have 24 hour acess to the garden though ' doggy doors'  in the 2 security gates which lead to the garden and these doors are never closed just to ensure that the dogs can go out whenever they want to.

PLEASE help.

Many thanks and kind regards

Dear Mrs Mooooo

I think it would be wise to have a urine test done to rule out infection of the bladder/crystals. How often do you take them out for walks and to socialise with ohter dogs? You can try 'Footsack'. Available at vets/vetshops.
