The 1st step to address tension problems between dogs would be to neuter the aggressor. This may then be followed by the castration of the Great Dane if the interaction is still problematic. Please note that in 10% of castrated dog may show no behavioural change. In addition castrated dogs may also have a tendency to put on weight - this can be managed through diet and exercise. You also need to change your interaction between the dogs ensuring that both dogs get equal attention and treatment.
