Mother to child

HIV positive and not on ARVs but want to have a child,will i then have to take ARVs and when and would that mean starting them then, will be for life. what are the chances of getting a normal and not HIV positive child. I am currently trying to leave very healthily.

You will have to take ARV's during your pregnancy to prevent your baby from being HIV positive. After delivery, you will be able to stop taking them again, depending on your CD4 count. It is however, important to have your CD4 count done regularly, if you are not taking any ARV's.
