Menstruation stopped

I am 40 years of age. My menstruation stopped when I was 28 years old. What could be the reason and what should I do. Is there any danger for me.

Hi Doc,
I have a problem with my periods they have stopped for a year now, and cannot fall pregnant, have been married for a year now and my husband doesnt want me to go to hospital when he wants a child,he says he doesnt trust doctors.
please help
