Menstrual Cycle

Morning,

My husband and I are Trying to conceive and I''m just wondering if I should be counting day 1 of my period from the day I start spotting a brownish discharge or when I have red blood? The discharge usually starts a day or 2 before I have red blood.

I would appreciate your response!
