Dear Theresa
If you need to lose weight all round, you basically need to change your lifestyle. Reduce your energy intake by eating an energy-reduced, low-fat, high-fibre diet (click on 'Diet & Nutrition' at the top of this page, then on 'Healthy Diets' and then on 'Slimming Diet' for a copy of such a diet), and increase your energy output by doing regular exercise (running, jogging, skipping, cycling, swimming, join a gym or Walk for Life) for at least 30 min a day. In addition to the cardio-type exercise it is also useful to do exercises that target the abdominal area such as sit-ups every day. Start with a few and then as you get fitter increase how many sit-ups you do every day. While you are on the ‘Diet & Nutrition’ site, read about every aspect of slimming including menopausal weight gain which should be in the 'Eating throughout life' section.
Best regards
