Q.

Mefliam for malaria side effects?

I have been getting headaches quite often since using this drug. I have completed my course 10 days ago and still have headaches. Is it a side effect of the drug or can it be something else causing the headches?

Headaches is a common side-effect of Mefliam and the medication is probably the reason of yours. Because it is a long acting drug the effect may also be prolonged. How long course have you been on and how long since you've left the malaria area?

With your symptoms the best would be to go back to your doc.

I think I had 5 tablets & took 1 every Sunday. I took two before I departed and 3 after arrival. I arrived from Malaria region on 02/02/05. I took the last tablet on 20/02/05.

By the way, a week after I arrived I felt terrible and visited the doctor, I had headaches, body pains and just no energy whatsoever, I thought it was Malaria and the test was negative. The doctor prescribed an antibiotic. I felt ok for a while, but the symptoms are back with headaches, immense body aches, cold and hot chills.
