Meerkat bite

I was bitten on my elbow on 10/4/09 by my friend' s meerkat. The meerkat has been living in their house for almost 2 years. She said the meerkat get his yearly injections and I needn' t worry. Do I need to go for rabies injections &  klem in die kaak? Thanks

Dear Animal lover
If the meerkat gets his yearly rabies vaccination, Rabies is not something to worry about, but you probably need a tetanum (klem in die kaak) if you haven't had one in the past 5 years.
