Hallo Annatjie
It is a cortisone that one can take for a few days (usually 3-5 days) to reduce swelling of the mucous membranes and open up the nose and sinus openings, so that phlegm can drain. It will also reduce any allergy symptoms. It is a 5 mg tablet so unfortunately one has to take 6 to get to a dose of 30 mg which you need for this effect.
