Mamogram

Dear doctor,

At what age would I need to go for a mamogram? There is only talk of when you are over 40, but I do not want to leave it too late. There is quite a few cases of cancer in my family although mostly only men. Would that make a difference as to if I should go and have a mamogram?

Regards,
Lesya

Hallo Lesya
The rule is to start screening at 40 unless you have a mother, sister or aunt that had breast cancer. You should have yearly physical examinations of the breasts and sonars if any nodules are felt.
