Malaria testing

How soon after exposure to malaria can it be detected in the blood tests? had a test done this morning, came back negative but the doc said that if i' m not better by sunday they have to re test? do you have to have the fever when they do the test?

The parasite is seen in the blood when there is fever present. Fever caused by the release of parasites in the liver cells. You should definately be re-tested and blood should be drawn when you are experiencing a fever episode.
