Lung Transplant

Hi Doc

I have no idea to which expert to pose this question to!
A 13year old female teenager has only 20% function in both her lungs is it at all possible to have a complete lung transplant(as in both being transplanted), I have heard it has been done in the UK, is it done in South Africa as the specialist that has seen her has said nothing can be done!

Curious to know and hoping its possible

Thank you for your time

Dear D
Yes it is possible in South Africa - you should see a pulmonologist who can refer you to the right specialist surgeon if the patient is suitable for a lung transplant
