Hi Ina, thank you for the question.

There is not really anything that one can ‘take’ to reduce bruising before surgery; however it is vital to avoid anything that can thin the blood and effect the clotting factors such as Aspirin, Disprin, Grandpa, anti-inflammatories (Voltaren, Nurofen, etc.) and painkillers such as Myprodol – these should be stopped 2 weeks prior to surgery. You should also stop all your multivitamins and any Omega’s 7 days prior your surgeries as they will also affect the clotting factors and therefore increase the chance of bruising. Typically 10 days should be enough for the healing to take place and if bruising does occur one should at that time be able to hide it with makeup.
