Low blood pressure

Hi Doc
My mom was diagnosed in May / June with colon cancer  she went into hospital June/July to have the tumor removed  she had a bag fitted and in August she had a resection done. In Sept, she was readmitted as she couldn''t work her stomach, the doc did a series of tests / xrays to see if there was a blockage, which there wasn''t, the xray just showed that where the join was everything slowed down but still passed through. Her stomach is working much better now and she is able to pass winds so we don''t think there is anything wrong there. She had her blood pressure tested the other day and it was 90/60  should we be concerned? She has lost a lot of weight from between June til now (probably around 12-16 kgs). She is very tired, weak but doesn''t have to many symptoms, just ever so often she may feel dizzy.
I did read that for many people low blood pressure is okay, some petite woman have blood pressure of around 90/60, so could it be that with losing weight, being in hospital 4 times, the shock of cancer etc could just be contributing to low blood pressure.
thanks
Michelle

Dear Michelle
Yes, the operations and weight loss can definitely cause low blood pressure. It is not dangerous unless it causes faints or she feels very weak and dizzy from it. If so, ask her oncologist if she may use something like Akrinor.
