losing weight + gyming

ok so im 20 yrs old, weigh 105kg (significantly overweight) with a BMI of 33.

i just joined da gym, the biokineticist has given me a programme... twice a week im doing cardio, twice a week upper body strenght and twice a week lower body strengh.

i am extremely keen on losing this weight and gaining muscle, what i want to ask u is wat foods should i be eating? do i need to cut down on carbs? eat more proteins? must i take any protein supplements? im very confused

your help would be great as there is no point working so hard in da gym when u not eating the correct foods, which wil eventually not make me lose weight

Dear Matt
The more cardio exercise you do, the more weight you will lose, so discuss upping your cardio sessions with the biokineticist. As regards a slimming diet you can use one of the diets on this Website (click on 'Diet' at the top of the page and then on 'Weightloss' and 'Balanced diet' to checkout the slimming diets). It is not necessary or desirable to cut out ANY one of the food groups. You should eat a balanced diet that contains proteins, carbs and small quantities of healthy fats. Don't get caught up in the gym hype of cutting carbs or overloading on proteins or taking all kinds of potentially harmful supplements, but do reduce your total fat intake.
Good luck with the weightloss regimen
