Long menstrual cycle

I am 46 years old and have had regular as clock work periods since the age of 11. I have no children and I am not on any contraceptives. I presume I''ve started with peri-menopause. Last month my period was 2 weeks late. I have now had it for 17 days!!!! It''s quite heavy. Is this normal? It''s driving me nuts, not to mention costly!!! lol

It sounds normal but I suggest that you consult your gynaecologist for an ultrasound and examination of the pelvic area, as well as blood tests.
