Life Support

Hello

In South Africa, is it possible for a hosptial to pull the plug on life support for a patient, if the loved one are unable to afford the costs involved? Can they put you in the position of " either you find the funds by this date or we need to pull the plug" ?
Could you provide me a rough estimate on how much life support could cost a month (for example, let''s use a coma victim)

This is just for interest sake.

Kind Regards,
JJ

The private institution will have to stabilise the patient and arrange suitable care at a state facility. Life support may not be turned off due to cost.

The average cost per coma victim in ICU is approximately R25000 per day.
