Hallo Mildred
Blood in the urine is usually due to an infection but can also be due to serious diseases like cancer. Best would be for him to still drink at least 8 glasses of water per day (you don't want clots forming in the bladder) and you can give him Citrosoda 2 teaspoons in water 3 times a day until he sees the doctor. If he has a cramping pain, fever or the bleeding worsens, rather take him to emergency room to see the doctor earlier.
