Just wondering

Hi Doc.
Just want to know if anybody knows what dogs dream about?
I' ve got 2 Airedale Terriers, and the male, sometimes when he' s really fast asleep, will start howling like a wolf, but not exaclty like a wolf. It' s a weird howl that he does, and really loud. I' m often waken by this, and let me tell you, late at night, when everythings quiet, and he starts howling like that, I get quite a fright. Just wondering what he dreams about that causes him to howl. Or is there a reason why he does this?

Thanks

Dear Anon

They dream but who will know what they dream about?

I have a spaniel that does that as well - howls at who knows what - it' s a pretty scary sound!

Wish I knew. I wish my dogs could talk. What good company they' d be. I just hope they don' t have nightmares, that would' nt be nice, they wouldn' t have anybody to talk to about it.
As long as they' re happy, I' m happy. Sometimes I forget that they are dogs, and not real children. They are so cute sometimes. I just want to hold them the whole day, and never let go.

No Steph your daxies probably dream about chasing something far bigger than rabbits maybe zebras or wildebeests LOL.

My dog sometimes dreams she' s eating - her lips and jaws move, and she makes slight slobbery noises... really cute! Easy to tell what she' s dreaming about, too....

Hi there, our 15 mth. old Boxer also dreams. She whimpers + her legs + paws shake but she does not howl. Obviously dogs do dream but who knows what they dream, we' ll most likely never know.
