Hi Tanya, firstly make sure that when you do call the dog to you it is always a pleasant expereince - never call a dog to reprimand it, take it for a bath etc (if it doesnt like baths), as the dog relates the behaviour of coming back to you as the reason for the reprimand, not the behaviour it was engaging in beforehand.
Secondly, take your dogs daily allowance and feed by hand, a few cubes at a time simply by calling the dog, giving a few pieces of food, letting it go and then calling again. This can be very time consuming but is an excellant way of getting a dog to come back to you every single time.
Make it easy for the two of you, start in the house and when the dog is coming every single time, then only go in the garden and build up that way. Use your weekends with the dog to really work on this. Good luck!
