Hi Kim, thank you for the question.

IPL is a great tool in improving and getting rid of pigmentation and ‘redness’ in one’s skin; IPL should be used with extreme caution or not at all with Melasma pigmentation.

The results that one can expect are dependent on two broad and important factors:
The type of machine or technology used: not all machines are equal
The settings chosen: the operator of the machine needs to choose the correct settings to achieve the best results

Downtime is typically minimal and includes: redness (disappears within a few hours), increased darkening of pigmentation that lasts between 5 to 10 days, and scabbing or flaking of the pigmentation which also disappears within 10 days.

The information provided does not constitute a diagnosis of your condition. You should consult a medical practitioner or other appropriate health care professional for a physical exmanication, diagnosis and formal advice.
