interferential therapy during pregnancy

I am in my 2nd trimester of pregnancy. I have lumbar scoliosis and as such suffer from chronic back pain. It has gotten worse with my pregnancy progression. I went to my usual physio, who I informed I was pregnant, and he used interferential therapy on my shoulders and lumbar spine. Is this safe for my baby ?

There is some argument that interferential is contraindicated during pregnancy. Better to avoid such treatment at this stage.
