Insulin levels

My doctor took blood and tested my Insulin level and it was 12. Is this normal ? What is the required level?

A fasting serum insulin level of greater than the upper limit of normal for the assay used (approximately 60 pmol/L) is considered evidence of insulin resistance. Ask your doctor to explain your results to you. If he suspects diabetes, he/she will have to do a glucose tolerance test.
