Dear Stephanie

You need an urgent ENT opinion regarding the discharging ear. The ear needs proper cleaning as well as the appropriate ear drops. Antibiotics taken orally will not solve the problem. Grommets are placed to create ventilation to the middle ear, and a discharging ear is not normal.
The general rule is that grommets should not stay in for longer than two years, in which case they need removal.

Regards.
