Increase vs medical aid

Good day,
Currently working for a company in the motor industry, claiming no increases this year for everyone, even though they make sure we get atleast the minimum wages, so they are safe. Some of us was compaining about not having medical aid and not even having money to go to the doctor, so they said we can have medical aid for up to R 500.00 pm. and no increase for the following two years ( but some people get ). Our emloyment contract said nothing about increases. Normally we would get 10%. We realy need both, should i get increase it will be more than the cover of the R 500.00 medical aid the work will pay. I know i am a hard worker. Can they do this? What shoul i do?

Thank you.

RE: INCREASE vs MEDICAL AID

Most companies in the motor industry fall under the bargaining council. This bargaining council does have a medical aid. You should check with the bargaining council by phoning through to the inspector to see if in fact your company has to be registered with a medical aid. If you are registered then you are covered.

If you cannot force your company into a bargaining council then there is no rights that you have to have a medical aid.
