IGF-1

Good day Doc

What does it mean if you have very low levels of " insulin like growth factor 1"  (IGF-1)? I am diabetic (recently diagnosed), hypertensive (on Pharmapress Co), insulin resistant and now also diagnosed with underactive thyroid.

Regards

Your underactive thyroid is mot likely the cause for your low levels of IGF-1. IGF-1 production can be retarded by undernutrition, growth hormone insensitivity, lack of growth hormone receptors. You can consult an endocrinologist to confirm that your underactive thyroid is in fact the cause for your low IGF-1 levels.
