HRT vs smoking

On HRT patches, struggling to give up smoking. Can I take Nicotine patches without suffering the possibility of deep vein thrombosis?

Or is the thrombosis par for the course with HRT regardless of whether one smokes or not?

And should one have a hysterectomy if on HRT?

I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks.

You can use nicotine patches to help you stop smoking but this would obviously be short term. Thrombosis is commoner when you are older and the risk is increased if you smoke, but there are no absolutes. HRT is not an indication for hysterectomy.

Best wishes
