There is no safe limit for alcohol during pregnancy. Babies have been known to get foetal alcohol syndrome when mothers have only had one or two drinks through their entire pregnancy.

It depends on the stage of development of hte baby in the womb. Any alcohol or nicotine can cause harm to a developing baby and should be avoided completely.

A number of medical research papers were published the past 2 years indicating that even small amounts of alcohol during pregnancy cause a delay in cognitive development of the child. So...sorry for your friend, but no alcohol is allowed.
