Our expert says:
Try and avoid using Normacol as it is not prescribed for use in dogs. Rather look to see what is causing the constipation - look at the diet and ensure that the dog is getting the required amount of fibre, ensure that there is an adequate supply of fresh/clean water and avoid certain treats that may lead to constipation such as the ingestion of bones.
If you need to treat for constipation first seek the advice of your local veterinary surgeon. To alleviate constipation try using Lactulose - dose is 5-25ml every 8 hrs or Paraffin (mineral oil / liquid paraffin) - 1-2 tablespoons per meal.
