hi there

hi there

I am a 24 year old female who has never had a pap smear, i was told i should have had one at the age 21, however i don' t see the need as i have not had any sexual intimacy. Do you think im taking a risk by not going for a pap smear or should i only go for one once i become sexually active?

thanks
hidi

You are pretty safe till you become sexually active.

After 21 it is recommended to just go for a check up and your gynae will be able to advise. It' s not a bad idea to get a papsmear even if your not sexually active - it' s a good yearly routine to get in to for your health.
