Dear Ectivia
It is important to keep in mind that all medications, including over-the-counter meds, can all cause negative side-effects. This is the reason why medications like Xenical, Reductil, Ciplatrim and Ectiva (the latter 3 products all contain sibutramine) are classified as Schedule 5 medicines that can only be prescribed by a medical dr. The purpose of this is that the dr needs to take a medical history of the patient to determine if she/he has not conditions like heart of circulatory problems which would make it dangerous to use these slimming medications. The dr is also supposed to monitor the patient's progress and assist if the patient develops any side-effects. So discuss the use of these meds with your dr and have the dr do a medical examination to see if you are able to use any one of them or not.
